Police in Hialeah are looking for a man who they say doused his pregnant girlfriend with gasoline and set her on fire Thursday morning.
Noel Grullon, also known as Noel Castro, was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend around 5 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 400 block of Southeast 2nd Street, Hialeah Police officials said.
During the dispute, Grullon, 32, doused the 27-year-old woman with gasoline and lit her on fire, police said. The woman, who is in the early stages of pregnancy with Grullon's child, suffered second-degree burns to her upper torso area and remained hospitalized Friday, police said. She and her unborn child are expected to be okay, according to a family member who spoke to NBC 6.
Police said the couple had broken up Wednesday night and had gotten into a fight about cigarettes.
The woman's two young children from another relationship - ages 1 and 4 - were present during the incident, police said. Police said Grullon and the woman have been in a relationship for about six months.
After the incident, Grullon fled in his black 2007 Ford truck, police said.
The Florida Department of Children and Families said they've opened a child protective investigation for the incident.
Grullon was released from prison in December 2016 after 12 years behind bars and is on probation, police said. He has a violent criminal past that includes armed robbery, armed carjacking, kidnapping, aggravated battery, grand theft, burglary and criminal mischief, police said.
