Hit-and-Run Crash Leaves South Florida Father of Five Dead

A horrible car accident left a father of five dead on Father’s Day and the drive responsible is still on the run.

The family of David Diaz, 51, is making an emotional case for closure and is pleading that whoever is responsible for the crash to come forward.

“The only thing they are going to lose is their freedom. We already lost somebody we can never bring back,” said Jorge Diaz, the victim’s brother.

David was driving on Hallandale Beach Blvd. Sunday after 10 p.m., when police said a gray Jeep crashed into him and killed him.

Images show the victim’s car crashed into a concrete wall. The Jeep flipped over and the driver took off.

“We have a lot of information, we have a lot of leads but we’d like the public to come forward, who might have information in regards to witnessing the incident and what occurred,” said Pedro Abut of Hallandale Beach Police.

Police said the driver responsible for the crash is around 24-years-old.

“We need him to come forward to have this closure and keep peace in our hearts and most importantly, in my brother’s kids hearts,” said Jorge Diaz.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
