Hit-and-Run Victim in Critical Condition: Miami-Dade Police

An elderly hit-and-run victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition after he was struck in northeast Miami-Dade Wednesday night.

The man was crossing Northeast 14th Avenue at Northeast 145th Street at about 8 p.m. when he was hit by a white minivan. The driver fled the scene, heading south on Northeast 14th Avenue, Miami-Dade Police said.

Marie Nicole Louis said the victim is her husband, 75-year-old Paul Louis. She said he had gone to the store and was coming home when he was hit crossing the street.

"When I opened the door I saw the white van and he's passing," she said.

Traffic homicide detectives are investigating.
