Hollywood Father Accused of Fatally Shooting Son

A Hollywood father accused of shooting and killing his son during an early morning confrontation remained behind bars without bond Wednesday.

Reynaldo Reyes Sr., 53, is charged with murder in the shooting death of Reynaldo Reyes Jr., authorities said. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.

The shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 2300 block of N. 69th Terrace, according to a Hollywood Police arrest affidavit.

Reyes Sr., his wife, his son and his son's girlfriend were drinking and dancing when the shooting happened, the report said.

Officers who responded to a call of a shooting encountered Reyes Sr., who doesn't speak English but said "My son, my son inside," the report said. In the home they found the younger Reyes laying in a pool of blood in a hallway, the report said.

Reyes Jr. was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he later died from a gunshot wound to his head.

According to Reyes Jr.'s girlfriend, Emily Robinson, Reyes Sr. began yelling at his son in Spanish before he went in a bedroom and got a gun.

"You're really going to shoot me?" the son said before his father fired one shot at his head, Robinson told police.

Reyes Sr.'s wife and the mother of Reyes Jr., Vivian Ramirez, told officers that her husband told the son to leave because he was drunk and being disrespectful to Robinson, the affidavit said.

The mother said her son slapped her husband with a "glancing blow" and she tried to separate them before the shooting, the report said.

Reyes Sr. told officers he had gotten the gun to calm his son down but that his son punched him several times in the face, the report said. He said he didn't point the gun at his son but it somehow went off.
