One Hollywood man, Chris Petrovich, says he is ready. In fact, he has been ready for years and co-founded the South Florida Survivalist Network that he said has more than 600 members.
"We have a lot of first responders, a lot of doctors, a lot of nurses, a lot of fireman, and police officers," he said.
As shown on the big screen, some interpret the Mayan calendar as ending on the date 12-21-12 to mean the world will end.
In Plantation, Elizabeth Bennett is preparing with gas masks, bottles water, canned food, and other supplies.
“You don’t want to sit back and say ‘eh.’ That’s not being responsible,” Bennett said. “That’s not protecting your home or your children. You should always have a plan.”
In France, doomsday believers are flocking to a mountain they say will save them. The rescuers? Not aliens, but new age travelers.

"We're hoping for some sort of contact event, and to meet some beings of other species,” Los Angeles visitor Otto Martin said. “We're basically just hoping to ask them for help."
Back in South Florida, if there is a way to get ready for the end of the world - whiskey, gas masks, food, and alarms. Petrovich has it covered.
"Being prepared, I don't think is unreasonable at all," he said.
This, while Bennett is hoping for the best and that Friday is just like any other day.
“Life goes on as normal,” she said. “You walk the dog, you pay the bills. If I really believed I was going to die tomorrow, I wouldn’t have paid my electric bill this month.”
