Business owners immediately called police and tried to help the woman. Violeta Ramos, who works in the area, said in Spanish that the victim was bleeding badly. She left a trail of bloody footprints at the salon.

“We have two immensely bloody scenes. We have very little information, but what we've been able to get is that two men, possibly Latin, have been involved in this crime," Reyes said.

The woman was undergoing surgery at the hospital, she said.
