Hospital Employee Arrested for Alleged Theft

A North Broward Hospital employee was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges after a patient said the employee stole a necklace and cash.

According to the arrest report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Ina Thompson, 54, was helping the victim to the bathroom right before the alleged theft took place. BSO said while the victim was inside the bathroom, Thompson allegedly went through the woman’s personal belongings.

Another person who was in the room told deputies they saw the entire incident.

Detectives said Thompson took a necklace and $50 in cash from the victim. Thompson then allegedly pawned the necklace and swore she was the original owner of the chain.

BSO said Thompson provided a full confession and said she didn’t know why she stole the necklace.
