Hot Topic: Do the Miami Heat Google Themselves?

The Miami Heat begin the regular season on October 28th and before the team gets serious, NBC 6 has a fun way to help you get to know the players off the court.

It’s called Hot Topic and in this edition, NBC 6 asked the Miami Heat stars "How often do you Google yourself?"

Dwyane Wade revealed that he Googles himself once a week. Why?

"Sometimes I Google it to like what I see, sometimes I Google it to not like what I see," he said. "I’m always looking for motivation. Something that was said, something that wasn’t said. I motivate myself by myself."

Chris Bosh claims he rarely Googles his own name.

“The couple times I did do it, the recent stuff comes up and I’m like, 'I don’t want to read that!’ and I never did it again," Bosh said.

Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra might not come off like a self-Googler, but he did admit to trying it once.

"I Googled myself when I was with my friends after I got engaged this summer just to see what the responses were," Spoelstra said.

Did he like the results?

“Yeah. I would never Google myself during the (season), those probably would not be good responses."

Amar’e Stoudemire said he used to Google himself when he first entered the league, but not anymore.

"You know my children do it a lot. I caught my son watching my highlights once and me dunking over people and I was like, 'What are you doing?'" he said.

Chris “Birdman” Andersen was quick to shoot down the idea of him searching his own name on the internet.

"I don't Google myself at all," he said.

But it’s not because he has anything against Google.

"I use Google a lot. But not for myself," Andersen said.

Has he ever Googled himself?

“Yes, during some of the negative times of my life, to inspire myself and work harder," he said.

Why not anymore?

“I don't need to anymore," he said.
