Hurricanes Fall in Nebraska

The Miami Hurricanes fell for the second time this year to even their record at 2-2

The Miami Hurricanes went into Nebraska for a game against the 24th ranked Cornhuskers on Saturday and lost 41-31.

Brad Kaaya had a night to forget as he threw two interceptions. The efficiency wasn't there either for Kaaya who was only 28-42 on his pass attempts. That was good for 359 passing yards overall. The freshman did also throw three touchdown passes on a busy night in the air for the Hurricanes.

Those passing yards were divided up relatively evenly with Duke Johnson leading the way. Johnson caught five passes for 84 yards in the air and also added 93 rushing yards on the ground. The Junior took one of his runs into the end zone and now has three rushing touchdowns on the year.

The aforementioned other three touchdowns for Miami came by way of the passing game. Clive Walford, Braxton Berrios, and Malcolm Lewis each picked up a touchdown reception. Walford caught the most passes of the day with seven in what was the busiest day of the year thus far for the Senior.

Miami was 4-10 on third downs and 2-3 on fourth downs. The big problem was Nebraska's efficiency in similar situations. The Cornhuskers did not need to attempt a fourth down conversion and were 7-10 on third downs. The ability to continue to pick up a fresh set of downs allowed Nebraska to dominate the time of possession in the game.

The Hurricanes will take on the Duke Blue Devils in Miami next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
