Hurricanes Fall to Fighting Irish for Fourth Straight Loss

The Hurricanes came back from 20 points down before falling to the Fighting Irish on Saturday

The Miami Hurricanes saw their skid extended to four games on Saturday with a 30-27 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Miami is now 4-4 on the year after beginning with four straight wins. Ever since Miami suffered a tough loss to Florida State, it has been unable to turn momentum back around. The Hurricanes have tumbled from one of the top-ranked teams to an unranked squad.

Saturday's loss started out in a poor manner before UM fought back. The Fighting Irish had a 17-0 lead after just one quarter of play and took a 13-point lead into the locker room at the half. It was there that Miami completed a 27-0 run. Unfortunately for Miami, time remained on the clock and Notre Dame would go on to win with a minute left in the game.

This was a dismal day for the Hurricanes on the ground with a team total of 24 rushing yards. Nobody was able to get anything started for Miami when running with the football. Notre Dame's defensive line appeared to be a brick wall at times and stifled Miami from the start. Mark Walton had the most yards for UM with 45, and it came on 18 carries for a poor average of 2.5 yards per carry.

Brad Kaaya went 26-42 on the day for 288 yards. Miami's quarterback threw one touchdown pass, and was also picked off once. Kaaya was sacked five times in the game, including on the last play.

Miami will return home and host the Pittsburgh Panthers next Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.
