Luis Palacios-Madariaga, 28, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the killing of 25-year-old Wendy Bandera

A man accused of stabbing his wife to death in Hialeah before turning the knife on himself is now facing murder charges, police said Friday.

Luis Palacios-Madariaga, 28, is facing a second-degree murder charge in the killing of 25-year-old Wendy Bandera, jail records showed.

Palacios-Madariaga remained hospitalized Friday following Wednesday's stabbing near Hialeah City Hall. The body of Bandera was found in a car parked along the street outside the building at 501 Palm Avenue.

According to an arrest report, officers found Palacios-Madariaga in the back of the car covered in blood.

"I do not want to live anymore," Palacios-Madariaga said in English, according to the report.

The officers pulled Palacios-Madariaga out of the car and used a stun gun on him after he ignored verbal commands to stay down.

Palacios-Madariaga had cuts around his wrists and a stab wound to his chest, and he was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, the report said.

Officers found a knife on the floor board of the car, the report said.

Police said they are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide attempt. Family members said the couple was in the middle of a divorce and that their relationship had deteriorated since they arrived in South Florida from Venezuela more than a year ago.
