A lengthy SWAT standoff at a Weston home ended with a man dead and his wife injured Tuesday, police said.

The incident began when officers were called to the home in the 400 block of Bonaventure Boulevard shortly after 7 a.m. for a domestic situation, according to Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with a superficial wound to her shoulder, police said. She was taken to nearby Cleveland Clinic.

Police said the woman's husband, 45-year-old William Ludwig, barricaded himself in the home and was refusing to come out. The SWAT team evacuated neighbors and surrounded the house for several hours.

When SWAT finally entered the home, they found Ludwig dead, Moschella said. Police haven't said how he died.

Ludwig's wife was treated and released from the hospital. The incident is still being investigated.
