IHOP Customer Wanted in Oakland Park Assault, Broward Sheriff's Office Says

Broward sheriff's detectives on Friday released surveillance images of a woman they say threatened a cashier after the woman demanded faster customer service.

A customer demanding faster service at an Oakland Park restaurant cursed and threatened to kill a cashier who laughed at her, authorities say.

Friday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of the belligerent woman. Detectives want the public’s help to identify the assault suspect.

The dispute occurred about 3:45 a.m. Oct. 6 at IHOP at 3101 W. Oakland Park Blvd., the Sheriff’s Office said.

“The impatient customer got very upset with the cashier and started using profanity while complaining about the slow service,” according to a sheriff’s news release. “The customer started to leave the restaurant, but instead, turned back around when she thought she heard the cashier laughing at her.”

The woman then displayed what witnesses said was a knife or some other kind of cutting instrument, officials said. She threatened to kill the cashier, but a man intervened and pulled the woman away. The pair drove off in a gray SUV, the Sheriff’s Office said.
