A prisoner wanted on 12 felony charges escaped custody by headbutting an officer this morning, setting off a brief "Prison Break"-like chase in Miami.

Anrry Morales-Leiva, 30, was being transported to the Miami Pre-Trial Detention Center at 1351 NW 12th St. around 4:30 a.m. when he decided to make a break for it.

As he was being taken out of an unmarked cop car by a Miami-Dade detective, Morales-Leiva, his hands cuffed behind his back, head-butted the officer and made his escape on foot.

After reports of a man jumping through backyards in a nearby neighborhood, police were able to nab Morales-Leiva about two miles away, in the area of 211 NW 25 Ave., around 8 a.m.

Helicopters and canine units were park of the full-scale manhunt.

Morales-Leiva, who lives in Pembroke Pines, was wanted on firearms and grand theft auto charges.
