Investigation Nabs Nearly Two Dozen Sex Offenders For Failing to Register with Broward Sheriff's Office

A six week, multi-agency investigation - which included the Fort Lauderdale Police Department – dubbed “Operation Here Not There” nabbed nearly two dozen convicted sex offenders who failed to register with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Representatives from FLPD, U.S. Marshals and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement met with the media Tuesday, detailing the capture of 22 people who failed to register – something they are required to do by law every 30 days.

Those who did not will be charged with a felony.

While most of those captured were found in Broward County, officials said some were found in other parts of Florida as well as other states – including New York and Colorado. Several were picked up by police on warrants for other cases.
