Congrats! Zoo Miami has welcomed a baby female giraffe into its ever-growing family Wednesday morning. The baby girl, who has yet to be named, marks the 51st giraffe to be born at the zoo. She is also the fifth offspring from her mother, “Mia.” Giraffe pregnancies can range anywhere from 13 to 15 months. Mothers usually give birth standing up, leaving their 100-pound, 6-feet-tall newborns to drop 4 to 6 feet to the ground at birth. Here’s a look at Zoo Miami’s newest family member.
