Jacksonville Woman Arrested For Leaving Child in Hot Car Outside Nursing Home

A Jacksonville woman is accused of leaving a child in a hot car for at least 40 minutes outside a nursing home.

One media outlet reports the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Katy Gross was arrested Tuesday and charged with child abuse.

An arrest report says a man called police after noticing a small child sweating inside a car that wasn't running at the Lanier Terrace Nursing Home.

Police say the child was in the car from at least 9:45 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. with no air. Officers said the child was "very hot and sweaty,'' but did not have to be taken to the hospital.

The child's age is unknown.

Investigators say Gross worked at the nursing home. It's unclear whether she was working at the time of the incident.
