Jet Door Falls on Golf Course: Officials

No one was injured in the incident, officials said

The main cabin door of a jet detached and plummeted onto a golf course in Hallandale Beach Wednesday, officials said.

The door fell off shortly after the aircraft, carrying two pilots, took off, according to Kathleen Bergen, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Canadair CL60 jet departed from Opa Locka Airport shortly before 4 p.m. and was headed toward Pompano Beach, Bergen said.

The plane was diverted to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport where it landed safely, authorities confirmed.

Bergen said no one was injured and that the FAA was still investigating the cause of the incident.

The name of the golf course was not immediately known.
