Jewelry Thieves Entered Miami International Mall Store Through Hole in Roof: Police

The burglars stole jewelry before leaving the same way they came in, police said

Burglars broke into a Miami International Mall store through a hole they cut in its roof and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry overnight, Doral Police said Wednesday.

The suspects who stole from Mayors Jewelers at 1455 Northwest 107th Ave. apparently went out the same way they came in, police said.

No one else was in the store when the break-in happened, according to police.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the store and doing an inventory of what was taken, police said.

“Miami International Mall has always been committed to providing a safe and secure shopping environment,” mall manager Alein Cadalso said in a statement. “Our primary concern is for our customers and mall employees, and we are thankful no one was injured during this after-hours incident.”

Melissa Fichman, a spokeswoman for the jewelry store's company Birks & Mayors Inc., said in an email, "We are unable to comment at this time since the incident is in the hands of local police authorities."
