Kaitlyn Hunt, Florida Teen Arrested for Having Sex With Underage Girlfriend, Released From Jail

Kaitlyn Hunt, 19, left the Indian River County Jail, where she's been since August.

A Florida teen who made national headlines when she was arrested for having sex with her underage girlfriend earlier this year was released from jail Friday morning.

Kaitlyn Hunt, 19, left the Indian River County Jail around 1 a.m. and left in an SUV with her family, WPTV reported.

Hunt has been in jail since August. She was charged in February with having sex with a 14-year-old female schoolmate. Hunt was 18 at the time.

Under a plea deal made with prosecutors, Hunt pleaded no contest to battery, interference with child custody and contributing to the dependency of a child. Hunt was required to stay in jail until Dec. 20 but won't have to register as a sex offender. She was also ordered to have no contact with the girl and faces house arrest, three months of probation and community service.

"I think she's grown up a lot.  She's had to face a lot of adult issues being very young.  She's learned and she wants to just close a chapter and move on, set some goals and look to the future," Hunt's mother Kelley Smith told WPTV.

Hunt said she planned to remain in the area and return to school to pursue a career in nursing.
