Key West Hemingway Days Celebrating Author's Legacy Ends Sunday

Ernest Hemingway fans have gathered in Key West to celebrate his life and legacy.

The festival started with a museum day Tuesday and ends with an arm wrestling tournament on Sunday.

During the 1930s, Hemingway lived in Key West and wrote "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "To Have and Have Not."

In honor of his career, aspiring writers can compete in a short story competition directed by Lorian Hemingway, the author's grand-daughter.

Other events include a three-day marlin tournament, a 5K Sunset Run and Paddleboard Race, a film screening, an arm wrestling contest, a street fair and a look-alike contest.

About 125 white-bearded men will compete in the 33rd Sloppy Joe's "Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike contest. The contest takes place at Sloppy Joe's Bar, located at 201 Duval St.

The men also compete in the "Running of the Bulls," which is a tribute to Pamplona's challenge. However, this event has man-made bulls. They will also host a birthday party for Hemingway's July 21 birthday. He would be 114 years old.
