Key West Man Arrested For 6th DUI: Police

A Key West man was arrested and charged with his sixth DUI, authorities said.

William Pritchett, 45, had crashed into the mangroves near Bahia Honda at approximately 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Monroe County Sheriff's Office officials said.

Deputies say Pritchett smelled of alcohol and had urinated on himself. After failing sobriety tests and refusing to take a breathalyzer test, Pritchett was charged with driving under the influence. Being his sixth DUI, it is a felony crime.

Pritchett was being held without bond Sunday, jail records showed. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.

β€œIt is the holiday season but hopefully we can get the word out once again how dangerous drinking and driving is," Deputy Josh Gordon said. "We are on the lookout for drunk drivers to keep the roadways safe.”
