Like thousands of other Miamians, we're sure you've had the urge to kick a cop. Of course, the fear of being beaten down by a night stick or shocked with a stun gun may have stopped you.

Well if you live in Palmetto Bay and are under the age of 10, then today is your lucky day. It's Kick a Cop Day.

The momentous occasion is actually a chance for children to show off their self-defense skills in case a stranger ever tried to snatch them up. The village create the day as part of the RAD program, or resisting aggression defensively.

Children are being taught that their best line of defense is a swift, hard kick to the shin of someone they feel threatened by. Taller kids may be advised to aim for an area a little further up.

So cops will dress up as bad guys today and take the children's best shots. Best of all, no one gets hit with a Taser!

The kicking good time starts at 7 p.m. at Howard Elementary School.

What we wouldn't give to be a kid again.
