Kidnapped Florida Woman Escapes Abductors in Mississippi

Deputies say the woman was able to escape through a bathroom window.

Authorities say a woman who was kidnapped in Florida was able to escape her abductors in Mississippi.

A Bay County Sheriff's Office statement says 34-year-old Flor Esmeralda Turcio-Arias escaped Thursday evening and went to Hattiesburg Police Department for help.

The Hattiesburg American reports that Turcio-Arias told officers she had been abducted and escaped through a bathroom window. She took officers to the home of her captors where a man and woman were taken into custody. They haven't been identified.

The FBI is now investigating.

Calls made Saturday by The Associated Press to the FBI and Hattiesburg Police were not immediately returned.

Florida authorities say someone called 911 on Thursday saying Turcio-Arias was outside washing her car when two men drove up, forced her into their car and drove away.
