A Lauderdale Lakes man was arrested for first-degree arson after he used a blowtorch to damage the front door of a neighbor’s apartment, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Robert Sisson, 34, of 2900 NW 48th Terrace Apt. 405 started a small fire with the blowtorch and a burned a hole through a screen and metal security gate of Apt. 402 at about 3:54 p.m. Tuesday, the BSO said.

The agency said Sisson, who was armed with a knife, attempted to get into the victim’s apartment, but fled down the stairwell after he noticed that someone had seen his fiery actions.
