A 20-year-old man was arrested for molesting a child, who his mother had been babysitting in their home, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
Jorim Athanaze faces charges including lewd and lascivious molestation for the incident, which occurred two years ago when the child was 6 years old, authorities said. The child's mother contacted authorities after she learned of the situation, the sheriff's office said. The girl told authorities the molestation occurred more than one time, authorities said.
Athanaze admitted to knowing the child but denied molesting her, authorities said. He did admit to sexually battering two other children and charges against him in connection to those incidents are pending review of prosecutors, the sheriff's office said.
Detectives said there are probably other victims, which may date back to several years and they are asking anyone who believes their child may have had inappropriate contact with Athanaze to contact them at 954-321-4261.
It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
