Lauderdale Lakes Woman Hit in Knee by Stray Bullet: Authorities

A fight occurred outside of the Club X-Tasy Cafe on North State Road 7 early Tuesday

A 44-year-old woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after she was hit in the knee by a stray bullet in Lauderdale Lakes, authorities said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said that Marjorie Pryce was taken to Florida Medical Center by Lauderhill Fire-Rescue after the incident, which took place shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday.

A fight occurred outside of the Club X-Tasy Cafe at 2542 N. State Road 7, and Pryce lives in an apartment at 4101 NW 26th St., the BSO said. The distance between the two is approximately 250 yards.

"She walked to the door. Then all of a sudden she was like, oh I got shot. But no one didn’t take it seriously inside the house," said Pryce's son, Wayne Howlett.

Everyone took it seriously when they saw blood running down his mother's feet, he said.

Howlett and neighbors said they were lucky. There were also young children in the apartment at the time.

"It’s a very horrible feeling that you know something like this happened," Howlett said. "It could have been worse – someone could have lost their life."
