Lawsuit Filed Against Pouncey Brothers for Alleged Fight

Ricquan James, Brentley Williams, and Niya Pickett filed a lawsuit Friday against Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and his brother Maurkice Pouncey and Cameo Management for an alleged attack at Club Cameo earlier this month.

The Pouncey brothers were at Cameo celebrating their 25th birthday when the alleged incident took place.

The lawsuit alleges the Pouncey brothers made “derogatory and homophobic remarks and anti-gay slurs” towards James. The lawsuit said the Pouncey’s then began to shove and push James and then, according to the complaint, things became more physical.

According to the suit, James asked Maurkice and Michael to stop pushing and shoving him and that Maurkice responded by hitting “James in the face several times and then Maurkice, Michael, their security and agents all begin to punch, hit, and kick James while he was laying in a fetal position.(sic)”

The lawsuit said Pickett tried to break up the fight and Maurkice “then grabbed Pickett, spur her towards him, punched her in the face and knocked her unconscious. James and Pickett were then violently beat and thrown throughout the club and eventually thrown outside the club.”

The trio’s lawsuit said James and Pickett were “thrown into several CAMEO patrons including Williams,” during the alleged incident. The lawsuit states James and Picket “suffered blunt force trauma to the head, neck, chest, and back and had multiple contusions and bruises over a great extent of their bodies. James further suffered broken teeth. Pickett further suffered from an injury to one of her eyes, which is affecting her sight.”

Through their attorney, Jeff Ostrow, the brothers said they were not involved in any altercation that night and threatened to countersue over the allegations of a fight. Earlier this month, Ostrow released a statement when the plaintiffs first said they were going to sue the brothers that read:

“Mike and Maurkice were not involved in any altercation with the accuser or anyone else that night and did nothing wrong. It appears that the accuser is an opportunist seeking attention and possible financial gain. Any attempt by the accuser or anyone else to bring an action against them based upon these false allegations will be vigorously defended. If the accuser continues to perpetuate these lies, we will bring an action against him.”
