Former Liberty City Coach Accused of Inappropriate Sexual Conduct

A former youth football coach from Liberty City was placed behind bars, accused of molesting a minor.

Coach Robert Jones, 39, has been sidelined by troubling accusations. He has coached kids ages 6 to 13 since 2006 and also delivered the Liberty City Warriors to two championships.

Now Jones has been charged with inappropriate sexual conduct. According to the arrest report, Jones allegedly had intercourse with a minor.

The hailed coach is known to some kids for always giving advice.

"He's popular. He's a good coach. He tells us to do good in school, stay in school," one student said. "He always tells us to stay out of jail."

Jones was being held on $35,000 bond. It's unknown whether he's hired an attorney.

NBC 6 was told Jones hasn't coached since last year.
