As the Olympic Games come to a close, several local athletes are still fighting to come home with gold.
Sylvia Fowles of Liberty City and the USA Women’s Basketball team will vie for a fifth straight gold medal Saturday when they play France at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed Live on NBC.
On Thursday, the team turned up its defensive pressure and beat Australia 86-73.
Fort Lauderdale’s Sanya Richards-Ross will aim to medal once again in the women’s 4 x 400 meter relay final. The event will be streamed live at 3:25 p.m. ET on NBCOlympics.com.
Foluke Akinradewo, also of Plantation, and the Women’s USA Volleyball team will play Brazil at 1:30 p.m. ET in the finals.
The Americans are top-ranked. They took over the top spot in the world rankings at the end of 2011, ending Brazil's four-year run. The women qualified for the Olympics in November with a silver-medal finish in the FIVB World Cup.
The team is favored to win their first Olympic gold.
All events can be watched live on NBCOlympics.com.
