MDPD Promotes “If You See Something, Say Something”

Miami-Dade Police were out in full force Tuesday afternoon, but not on the type of work you'd expect.

Officers took to metro stops throughout the county to promote the "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign in collaboration with the U.s. Department of Homeland Security.

The campaign aims to encourage commuters to report suspicious activity to law enforcement in order to help stop crime before it can start.

Sgt. Michelle Mironey says citizens should call to report any suspicious activity they see, no matter where it happens, and no matter how big or small it may seem.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

"It doesn't necessarily have to be that suspicious package or letter. Report anything that just doesn't seem right," Mironey says.

Commuters appear to be on board with the project.

"We need to stop violence anywhere we go," said commuter Eric DeJesus. "City, state anyplace."
