"Operation Difference" wants to keep the quality of life crimes away from the rich Miami residents.

No longer will affluent Brickell and Coral Way residents have to deal with the annoyance of a pickpocket or panhandler thanks to "Operation Difference," a crime-fighting plan that has gone on for three years and takes place in a different community each week.

The press release announcing this week's OD undertaking didn't sugarcoat who reaps the benefits.

"Due to the increased presence of the rich and famous, the common criminal tries to find easy ways to sink their teeth into the luxury and glamour," said the release, from Miami PD spokesman Officer Jeffrey Giordano. "In a continuing effort to combat crime and maintain the overall quality of life in an area that has become known as the forefront of international business and luxury, the Miami Police Department will be hosting an Operation Difference, targeting quality of life crimes and other issues."

Finally, we can go to Perricone's and park our Bentleys in peace.
