Man, 74, Had Rifle at Hialeah Medical Plaza: Police

A 74-year-old man who was inside a building at a Hialeah medical center with a rifle was arrested Friday, officials said.

Gustavo Adolfo Calvet was charged with improper exhibition of a firearm in the incident that happened at Hialeah Medical Plaza at 777 E. 25th Street, police said.

According to police, someone called 911 after seeing Calvet in the building carrying the rifle around 11:40 a.m.

Officers responded and found Calvet with the rifle, which was unloaded and belongs to a doctor in the medical plaza.

"He did not have any ill intent with the firearm, it was an apparent error in judgment," police said in a statement.

Calvet's charge is a misdemeanor, and he was released at the scene.
