A South Florida man upset over a Facebook account took out his anger on his 86-year-old grandmother, police said Tuesday.
Jeff Atwell, 26, was arrested Monday on charges of battery on a person 65 or older and criminal mischief after he allegedly attacked his grandmother in West Palm Beach, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Atwell's grandmother told authorities that she lives with her grandson and that he had walked into the house upset over a Facebook account. It wasn't clear what exactly angered Atwell.
Atwell grabbed 86-year-old Willie Atwell twice by her neck and collar before his father pulled him off her, the arrest report said.
Atwell allegedly punched holes in a wall, broke a stove by throwing a chair at it and damaged a fan.
Willie Atwell told police that if her son hadn't been there, her grandson may have killed her or harmed her even worse.
Jeff Atwell was being held on $6,000 bond at the Palm Beach County jail Tuesday. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
