Man Accused of Shaking, Killing 1-Year Old

Ian Arnold faces child abuse charge, but could be slapped with murder rap

A Fort Lauderdale man could face murder charges after he is accused of child abuse on a 1-year-old boy who eventually died.

Ian Arnold, 22, was arrested Wednesday despite what he claims was an accident. He faces aggravated child abuse charges for what he did to Kamarie Bowles Jr. earlier this past weekend.

Police said on Sunday they responded to an emergency call from Arnold that the baby was not breathing right after he had snatched the child from a computer. Police noticed several bruises in the shape of hand prints on the boy.

Doctors said the child's brain injuries were consistent with him being shaken. Bowles died this morning from his injuries.

Additional charges could be coming pending the results of an autopsy. It's unclear why the child was left with Arnold and what his relationship is to the boy.
