A man accused of fatally shooting his wife behind a Northwest Miami-Dade preschool made his first court appearance Saturday.

Antonio Wilcox, 41, is being held without bond on charges of second-degree murder and an out-of-county warrant.

Prosecutors said he is also wanted in Alachua County on child support-related charges.

Detectives said Antonio Wilcox and his wife Michelle Wilcox had an argument Wednesday at their home. His wife ran outside as the argument escalated and was shot and killed behind a preschool on Northwest 119th Street and 22nd Court as she tried to escape, according to police.

The shooting was captured on camera by the preschool's security system.

Wilcox was an elementary teacher at Center of Life Academy in downtown Miami, inside the Miami Rescue Mission. She also helped students get ready to go to college.

Antonio Wilcox was detained and questioned Friday, during which police said he confessed to shooting his wife of 12 years. The suspect is also the father of the victim's child.
