Man Allegedly Posed as Police in Florida Keys Road Rage Incident

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said a 19-year-old Homestead man was arrested in the Florida Keys for allegedly posing as a law enforcement officer during a reported road rage incident.

An MCSO deputy was dispatched after a road rage incident was reported in which a Toyota vehicle activated blue lights.

Sandro Sierra Gil faces charges of unlawful use of blue lights and fraud after he was arrested while driving in the Upper Keys, MCSO said.

The deputy parked ahead of the incident and waited for the suspected Toyota to approach to make a traffic stop.

The deputy asked if Gil was a law enforcement officer, MSCO adds.

"Gil said he was not," MCSO said in a statement. "Gil told the deputy the blue light was under the passenger seat."

Gil told the officer that he activated the blue lights to stop an SUV from following two motorcycles too closely.

When the deputy asked why Gil did not contact 911, Gil said he "didn't want problems with police'," MCSO said.
