Police in Wilton Manors arrested a man early Wednesday morning they say vandalized part of the department’s headquarters and City Hall while trying to get inside.

Joshua Roberts was taken into custody and charged with four counts that included property damage and resisting arrest. The 29-year-old remains behind bars on an unknown bond.

According to an arrest report, a witness called 911 to say they say a person throwing objects at the building. When officers arrived, they saw Roberts standing outside while a door to the building was shattered and several items, including a construction barricade, were seen in the area.

A police call box and fire alarm were also destroyed in the incident, according to the report.

Officers attempted to arrest Roberts, but he refused before eventually being restrained by three officers – reportedly saying he was trying to break into the building because he thought someone was being kidnapped inside.
