Man Beats Woman, Holds Her Captive After Smoking Flakka Together: Police

A man is accused of severely beating and holding a woman against her will after they smoked flakka together, Riviera Beach Police said.

Jeron Burney, 26, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, false imprisonment and kidnapping in the alleged attack on the 40 year-old woman, police said.

Burney was being held without bond Wednesday, Palm Beach County jail records showed. No attorney information was available.

According to an arrest report, the woman said she met Burney, who she knew as "Jerome," and smoked flakka with him in her car. She said she and Burney and another man had gone to Miami to buy drugs, the report said.

Burney accused the woman of giving oral sex to the other man and attacked her, punching her in the face and head and pulling out her dreadlocks one by one, the report said.

He also choked her to the point she lost consciousness and when she regained consciousness told her "I am going to kill you," the report said.

Fearing for her life, the woman told Burney what he wanted to hear, admitting to the oral sex, and the beating got worse, the report said.

Burney then took the woman to a house where he kept her overnight against her will. He also continued to beat and kick her, and held a knife to her throat, the report said.

The woman saw Burney's aunt and asked her to take her to the hospital, and the Aunt told Burney that if he didn't, she would, the report said.

"She's not dying in my house," the aunt said, according to the report.

Burney drove the woman to a hospital and gave her his phone, saying he would call to check on her. Doctors found she had a busted eardrum, multiple bruises on her body and contusions on her face, neck and head.

Police were able to identify Burney through photos on his phone, and he was arrested.

Officials say the synthetic drug flakka, also known as gravel, is a more potent form of bath salts that is highly addictive and can be deadly if taken in high doses.

The drug has been tied to a number of recent bizarre incidents in South Florida and the rest of the state, involving suspects kicking in police department entrances and running through streets naked.
