A male suspect broke into an elderly woman’s home on SW 23rd Street as she was sleeping and fondled her, Miami Police said.
The man broke into the woman’s house in the Roads neighborhood near U.S. 1 at about 5:10 a.m. last Tuesday, police said.
He woke her up while wearing boxers and a white undershirt around his face, they said.
“She's awoken by this monster which enters her home with no force, he's wearing nothing but boxers and a T-shirt, he jumps on top of the victim and begins to choke her and rip her clothes off and fondle her,” police spokesman Sgt. Freddie Cruz said.
He touched himself as he did so, according to police, before he fled.
Police said they’re looking for a black Latin male who is bald, stands between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 230 to 245 pounds, and was last seen wearing an undershirt around his face.
It was a despicable crime, said Elke Hundertmarks, who lives in the area where the incident happened.
”I think it is a safe neighborhood because all the neighbors are friendly, we all look after each other and take care. We know them all, so ooh, help,” she said.
On Monday investigators went door to door in the area passing out flyers, hoping that somebody saw something.
They want the suspect off these streets, and Hundertmarks said she does too.
”We've got a gate so for somebody to get into a house is not that easy, but I had seriously never thought about it. I trust upstairs,” she said.
