A man chased by police was arrested after he was found with marijuana, a Xanax tablet and MDMA pills, also known as Molly, according to the police report.

Giovanni Raffo, 26, was stopped by police for obstructing traffic and not wearing a seat belt. As the officer demanded he step out of the car, Raffo reached towards the left passenger side and fled down Ocean Drive, the report said.

The officer, who had to jump away from the vehicle to avoid getting hit, called for backup. Raffo was forced to stop during a police chase, the report said.

Officers had him at gunpoint and once again instructed him to get out of his vehicle, the report said. But Raffo reversed his car and fled, authorities said.

Raffo ran various red lights and failed to yield at pedestrians, according to the report.

When Raffo reached Venetian Causeway and came to a stop after crashing into the bridge, he got out of his vehicle and jumped into the waterway.  He was found hiding under the dock at the Sea Isle Marina & Yachting.

He was arrested and is being held at the Miami-Dade County jail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
