Gros was leaving a Grove City house party when the owner of the car he was inside went to get something left at the home, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. That’s when deputies say he drove off in the vehicle and hit a parked car. Witnesses told authorities that he was highly intoxicated at the time.

During questioning, Gros told deputies that he was “heavily intoxicated” that night and didn’t remember what happened, according to the sheriff's office. He said he could only recall going to a bar with friends and then going to the home. Although he knew he stopped at the Grove City Fire Station, he couldn't explain how he got his hands on a $4,000 fire engine radio scanner, authorities said.
