A 19-year-old man was fatally shot while hanging out with three friends in a Pompano Beach apartment Friday, authorities said.

Michael Cornelio died at 428 SW 2nd Place Apt. 4, the Broward Sheriff's Office said in a statement. The shooting may have happened as Adiel Jaramillo, 20, played recklessly with a handgun, the agency said.

After the shooting at 2:48 p.m. Jaramillo ran from the apartment, and he faces charges of manslaughter, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the BSO said.

Jaramillo, who is believed to be on foot and may be armed, is a known gang member with a criminal history, according to the BSO.

The agency initially said the victim was in his 20s. Both he and Jaramillo are from Pompano Beach, the BSO said.

Authorities ask anyone with information on Jaramillo's whereabouts to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
