Police have charged a man after a dog was found dead on Miami Beach Thursday afternoon.

Miami Beach police officials said they received a 911 call of a man hitting a dog at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Meridian Avenue.

Officers responded around 2 p.m. and found a dog dead in a courtyard. Police say 20-year-old Woody Pierre killed his own 7-month-old puppy named Lucy.

"I want this guy too be underneath the jail. Not in a cell but underneath it. Maybe then people will stop doing this," said Bridge Golde.

According to an arrest form obtained by NBC 6, Pierre was caught on video kicking and shoving Lucy with his feet into a small space in the sidewalk and fence near his apartment.

"He was stomping and kicking the dog and the dog was yiping and I had to stop after that point I couldn't watch it," Golde said.

Pierre allegedly told police he was upset because lucy defecated in his friends apartment.

Pierre has been charged with one count of animal cruelty with intent to kill and one count of cannabis possession, according to the arrest affidavit.
