A Deltona man died Sunday after he was thrown from his motorcycle when it struck a guardrail on an exit ramp of Florida's Turnpike.

Elvis Lee Myrie, 44, was traveling southbound on the exit ramp to Hollywood Blvd from the Turnpike at 2:15 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit the guardrail, the Florida Highway Patrol said. He was thrown from the 2009 Suzuki motorcycle.

Authorities transported him to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Myrie was wearing a helmet.
