Miami Fire Rescue said a man was dead after being found in the water near at NE 79th Street and 10th Ave. following an extensive search Monday.

The man was brought to Pelican Harbor Marina after fire rescue searched for him for 25 minutes.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but he was under the water too long, officials said.

A man fishing off a nearby bridge had heard the splash and saw the man trying to stay above water, authorities said.

Then the man disappeared.

The witness alerted authorities who began the search.
