Man Facing 111 Charges for Allegedly Stealing Fire Alarm Control Panels

A South Florida man is facing more than 11 charges after authorities say he stole fire alarm control panels from apartment and condo buildings.

Michael Moser, 38, is facing 111 charges including burglary of an unoccupied structure, possession of burglary tools with intent to use, petty theft, grand theft and preventing or hindering a firefighter or equipment.

Moser appeared before Broward Judge John Hurley Tuesday where he was ordered held on tens of thousands of dollars bond. It was unknown if he has an attorney.

According to an arrest report read by Hurley, beginning in the summer of 2014, Moser and two others went to condo and apartment complexes in Coral Springs where they removed the fire alarm control panels from several buildings.

Moser would then sell the equipment to a dealer, Hurley said. The thefts caused tens of thousands of dollars in losses to the buildings and rendered the buildings' fire alarms useless, Hurley said.
