Man Filmed Naked Woman at Kendall Tanning Salon: Police

The victim was inside a private tanning booth getting undressed when she spotted a cell phone on the floor

A South Florida man was arrested for allegedly filming a naked woman at a tanning salon, Miami-Dade police said.

The incident happened Friday at Zoom Tan in Kendall. Javier Sotomayor, 36, was arrested the following day and charged with video voyeurism.

The victim was inside a private tanning booth getting undressed when she spotted a cell phone on the floor -- pointed in her direction, an arrest report said. She was completely nude and getting ready to enter the stand-up tanning booth when she made the discovery.

The phone was placed between a wooden wall that divided her room and the room next to her. The victim quickly put her clothes back on and staked out the person in the room next to her.

She told police she saw Sotomayor walk out of the tanning room alone, according to the arrest report. When the victim confronted the suspect, Sotomayor allegedly ignored her and walked out of the tanning salon.

The woman followed the man and recorded him with her cellphone as he walked around the strip mall as if he was trying to elude her, the report said. Sotomayor eventually returned to the front of the salon, where he parked his car.

Police arrested Sotomayor the next day and impounded his cell phone as evidence.
