A woman who thought her engagement and weddings rings were lost forever during a recent trip to Florida is expressing her gratitude after the important keepsake was found.
Claire Land told NBC affiliate WESH-TV she was in Central Florida last week for a Make-a-Wish vacation at Disney World and was at Cocoa Beach on Thursday when she took off the ring to put on sunscreen – and could not find it again.
“I felt like crying,” Land said. “I like dug in the sand, ripped the stroller apart, ripped our backpacks apart and it wasn't anywhere.”
After returning to Colorado, she posted a message on social media asking for help and got a hold of Dave Mollison, who runs a business that uses a medical detector and scoop to comb the beaches looking for items.
Land sent Mollison a list of where she had been, which took him to an area with several bars.
“A lot of people go out at night and during the day metal detecting there and I didn't think it would still be there after a week,” Mollison said.

After hours of searching Friday, Mollison head a ping from his equipment – and after digging 10 inches into the sand, the two rings that were soldered together had been found.
“Your heartbeat goes up a little bit and you're like, 'Alright I found it,’” Mollison said.
Mollison was able to mail it back to Land, who expects to have it back by the early part of next week.
