Man Critically Injured in Hollywood Hit and Run

Authorities are investigating after a man was found critically injured on the side of a Hollywood road Wednesday morning

Authorities are investigating after a man was found critically injured on the side of a Hollywood road Wednesday morning in what police are calling a hit and run.

The man was found around 5:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Johnson Street, Hollywood Fire Rescue officials said.

The man remained at Memorial Regional Hospital with very serious injuries late Wednesday morning.

Police believe the man was a victim of a hit and run. They said a passerby saw the body on the ground and called police.

Residents of the area said they weren't surprised to see someone get hurt on what they described as a dangerous stretch of road.

“It’s a lot of speeding and what people do sometimes is they’ll ride their bicycles or they will walk on the street, in the middle of the street," Michael Friedberg, who lives just a few feet from where the victim was found, said.

Another man who lives near the scene, Richard Bradford, said he's witnessed several accidents since moving to the neighborhood five months ago.

Police have not yet been able to identify the make or model of the vehicle. They ask that anyone with information call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
